Lady Knights, Altas retain NCAA titles

LETRAN repeated over San Beda, 21-16, 21-16, to annex its second straight women's title in the NCAA beach volleyball tournament Sunday at the Subic Bay Sand Court.


      Lara Mae Silva and Gia Maquilang completed a perfect 11-0 season without dropping a set and the Lady Knights have won 20 consecutive matches dating back from last season.


      The Lady Red Spikers pair of Angel Habacon and Reyann Cañete still have something to celebrate about, as the Mendiola-based squad achieved its best finish since the Viray twins won back-to-back championships in 2019.


     University of Perpetual Help System Dalta successfully defended the men's title as Louie Ramirez and Jeff Marapoc defeated Mapua's Saint Marlowe Jamisola and Ar-Jay Ramos, 21-19, 21-13.


     In the women's Final Four, Letran prevailed over Emilio Aguinaldo College, 22-20 21-13, while San Beda swept Perpetual, 21-18, 21-18.


     The Lady Generals overcame the Lady Altas, 21-16, 16-21,15-10, to finish third. 


     In the men's semis, Perpetual subdued Arellano University, 21-12, 21-15, while Mapua outlasted Jose Rizal University, 21-19, 19-21, 15-13.


    The Heavy Bombers captured the bronze medal after prevailing over the Chiefs, 21-11, 21-9. 


     EAC's Dwayne Iverson Alin-Alin and Alijhan Apdian annexed the juniors title at the expense of LPU's Ace Blanco and Rodan Aguirre, 21-17, 16-21, 15-10. Letran defeated Perpetual, 21-19, 21-10, to reach the podium.
